SUMMARY:MEGAVALANCHE 2019 - Alpe d'Huez
DESCRIPTION:The MEGAVALANCHE is undoubtedly one of the world’s finest mass-start Enduro/DH Marathon races. Departing from Le Pic Blanc (3300 m) above Alpe d’Huez and finishing at Allemont (720 m)\, you’ll ride a whopping 2500 m of vertical drop from snow and ice down to dusty singletrack. \nJournalist Susan Greenwood called the Megavalanche “the craziest mountain bike race in the world”. She could be right\, each year the legendary enduro race sees 2200 riders from 20 different countries engage in a mass-start frenzy\, battling for position down super steep snow\, and scree. Taking part in the Alpe d’Huez Megavalanche is on any self-respecting mountain biker’s wish list and with crashes commonplace\, many a past competitor will carry the scars with pride. \nThis event\, the longest downhill race in the world\, is the enduro race by which all others are judged: 4 days of training and racing\, a total of over 4000 downhill metres of riding\, and week-long entertainment in the mountain resort of Alpe d’Huez. \nWATCH THIS: MEGAVALANCHE Alpe d’Huez 2017 Official movie\n \n\nMEGAVALANCHE Facebook Feed\n\nLast Year’s MEGAVALANCHE Results\n\n1. Benjamin FORBES (TREK Australia) 00:25:06\n\nSee full list of results \nRémy Absalon was first over the finish line making this his 5th MEGAVALANCHE win!\nAn impressive victory for Frenchman Rémy Absalon ultimately taking the win more than 30 seconds ahead of Damien Oton\, who was over the moon just to make it down the entire track. Remy’s time of 43 minutes and 19 seconds was 3 minutes off the pace of his win last year. This was no reflection on the quality of the riding. Rather\, warm sun created sketchy slushy conditions lower down the glacier\, causing riders to snake through a section they flew through last year. Camille Servant was in the lead for a large portion of the race\, but he lost time in the woods. Even so\, he climbs the rankings this year to a very respectable 7th. And\, good to see Nukeproof rider Matti Lehikoinen up there with the best. A good result from team SCOTT France who yet again have 2 riders in the top 3. Begs the question\, is the Scott Genius the ultimate Enduro machine? \n\nEvent Registration\nSign-up for the Megavalanche Alpe d’Huez on the engage-sports.com website. Registration is restricted to 2200 participants max\, professionals and amateurs. \nThe registration fee ranges from 67 euros to 75 euros + lift pass (47 euros for 6 days) + insurance (19.80 euros for 6 days). \nRegistration closes at midnight on the 02 July 2019\, or when the event is full. \nMegavalanche 2019 Event Program\nSaturday 30 June Beginning of the MEGAVALANCHE liftpass\nTuesday 02 July 8am–7pm Palais des Sports. SUMMARY:Roc d'Azur- MTB Festival - Fréjus 2018
DESCRIPTION:The now legendary Roc d’Azur mountain biking festival has become like a Woodstock for MTB fans with thousands of amateur and professional riders descending on Fréjus in the South of France for 5 days of racing\, industry exhibitors and entertainment. \nAfter a record number of visitors in 2014 with 20\,035 participants and 100\,000 visitors to the Fréjus bike village\, Roc d’Azur 2018 promises to be huge. Staying faithful to the original spirit of the Roc\, organisers continue improve the program\, with new routes and changes to the event timing. \nFor this 2018 edition\, the 40 km Rando Roc All Mountain will start and finish in Roquebrune-sur-Argens\, and the 24 km Roc Light will become part of Thursday’s race program. \nThe Roc d’Azur Dames\, which draws some of the world’s best female biking talent\, will be moved from Saturday to Sunday to give competitors fully cleared tracks and the publicity they deserve. \nThe trails have been modified to provide new sensations. “There’s not been a revolution\, but we have made some good improvements”\, says sports director\, Frédéric Salomone. The main one is undoubtedly the climb on Sunday’s flagship Roc d’Azur race. “For the first time since 2010 we have included the dreaded climb with two especially steep kilometers at kilometre 15\, after already climbed 3 km climb at the foot of Fournel. It’s scary to many.” \nSo\, new routes but also the renewed enthusiasm to provide a great event in the Roc d’Azur village in Fréjus. A complete entertainment program is scheduled and some 300 exhibitors will be there showing off the latest mountain bike gear. It’s all set to be an unmissable event!

SUMMARY:CRANKWORX - Les Gets 2017
DESCRIPTION:Through dirt\, sweat and cheers\, Crankworx celebrates the epic endurance\, supreme flow\, monster air and heart-stopping drops of freeride mountain biking. \nAnointed by dirt\, powered by passion\, the Crankworx World Tour travels for the fourth time to Les Gets in the French Alps from the 14 to 18 June. \nStaking a claim for mountain biking in France\, the global centre of cycling\, Crankworx Les 2 Alpes touches down under the largest skiable glacier in Europe. Located an hour-and-a-half from Grenoble and a stone’s throw from the Italian border\, the historic alpine village provides a stunning setting to consecrate the innovation and showmanship of the best gravity athletes. Aeronautic tricksters\, speed freaks and enduro maestros meet to compete on the steep scree slopes of the Alps and push the limits of what’s possible on a mountain bike to the brink. \n\nGetting there\nThe nearest international airport is Geneva\, located about 1 hour 15 mins away by car and serviced by a number of no-frills and charter airlines. There are regular transfer buses from Geneva airport or you can book a private transfer. If you’re travelling by train\, the French high-speed train\, the nearest big station with high-speed connections to major cities is Bellegarde near Geneva. From there you can connect with a local train to Cluses or Thonon-les-Bains. \n[su_box] \nCrankworx Les Gets Slopestyle\nDon’t miss the signature event\, the Crankworx Les Gets Slopestyle final which takes place on Sunday 18 June at 3:30pm. \nThrills and spills are in store for this the climax of Crankworx Les Gets. This year the Les Gets Slopestyle becomes the critical mid-season determiner for the Triple Crown of Slopestyle. Should the athlete who won the Slopestyle course in Rotorua repeat in France\, there is just one competition to go to secure the crown. This course is notorious on the global circuit for its spectacular setting and intensity of the course. An invitation-only event\, it is sure to be the highlight of the festival for many.\n[/su_box]

SUMMARY:Trans-Savoie - Big Alpine Enduro
DESCRIPTION:The Trans-Savoie Big Alpine Enduro event is point-to-point enduro mountain biking at its very best. Ride 300 km of the world’s foremost mountain bike trails from Val d’Isère to Chamonix over 6 days. \nTimed stages take in seemingly endless descents on technical singletrack\, while liaison stages are a blend of cruising singletrack\, climbing and chairlifts. The route is long and physical and be under no illusion\, with an average 5 km vertical drop and 50 km riding per day\, you’ll need a high level of fitness to complete the itinerary. \nThe Trans-Savoie is possibly the most technically challenging and naturally hazardous MTB event in the world. \nTrans-Savoie 2016 – The Route\nDay 1 – Val D’Isere\, Tignes\, St Foy\, Seez\nDay 2 – Les Arcs\, Montchavin-Les-Coches\, La Plagne\nDay 3 – Peisey-Nancroix to Bozel\nDay 4 – Courchevel\, Meribel & Villarlurin\nDay 5 – Albertville to Megeve\nDay 6 – Megeve to Chamonix \nTrans-Savoie 2016 – Entries\n2016 will see the fourth incarnation of the Trans-Savoie which takes place between the 21 and 27 August. Register on facebook.com/TransSavoie. Be quick though\, there are only enough places for 100 enduro riders\, chosen at random but pre-screened for rider ability. \nThe 1\,995 euro fee includes transfer from Geneva airport\, all food\, logistical support and tented accommodation. \n[su_box] \n \nThe Trans-Savoie Guided Enduro Tour Experience\nEvent organisers trailAddiction also offer a more refined\, guided big Alpine riding experience. Follow the same point-to-point route as the race itself\, but trade camping for chalet accommodation and take a little more time\, providing a good mix of adventure\, challenge\, and pure riding pleasure. \nThe trails are the same so riders still require a high level of technical ability\, confidence on exposed trails\, mountain awareness\, and fitness. \nVisit trailAddiction.com to find out more >> \n[/su_box]

That’s 8\,848 meters! \nIf you don’t feel up to Mount Everest\, choose another famous summit – Mont Blanc\, Kilimanjaro\, Ben Nevis\, Snowdon or Scarfell Pike. \nNow don’t get confused here\, we’re not actually going to ride down Mount Everest… We’ll be in the Tignes bikepark riding the same vertical height! \nRaise Money for Alzheimer’s Research UK\n100% of the money raised goes to Alzheimer’s Research UK – the UK’s leading research charity aimed at defeating dementia. \nJoin the Team and Get Sponsored\nCycling down the vertical height of Everest is a real challenge. Each lap you’ll drop 5-700 m and a lap can take anything from 20 minutes to one hour. So it’s a full day on the bike and if you get sponsorship\, you’ll earn every penny! \nHere’s a link to the Altitude Challenge Just Giving page: Join the Team \nIf you don’t join the team don’t worry\, you can still turn up on the day and get involved by paying the 30€ entry fee\, which includes a barbecue and live music at the end of the day\, as well as tickets for a raffle with top prizes including a stay in a five-star hotel.

SUMMARY:SCOTT Raid VTT - Les Chemins du Soleil - Gap 2016
DESCRIPTION:SCOTT Raid VTT Multi-Day Cross-Country Mountain Biking Event in the South of France\nCovering 213 km and a vertical drop of more than 7500 m over 3 days\, the Raid VTT long distance MTB event celebrates the best of the Chemins du Soleil. \nRide sweeping singletrack\, wide open terrain and technical rocky descents in the foothills of the Alps in Provence. The event is considered extreme due to the sustained effort required over mountainous terrain with dramatic changes in altitude. The individual (un-timed) event takes place over 3 days and covers a distance usually cycled over 5 to 7 days. The “elite” event is timed and undertaken by teams of two\, and also includes an additional night ride which loops out from Gap covering 28 km and a vertical drop of nearly 800 m. \nGiven the physical effort required and the technical nature of the trails\, the SCOTT Raid VTT is aimed at experienced mountain bikers only. Only register for this event if you are confident you can cycle for three consecutive days over more than 7500 m vertical drop and can ride downhill on difficult terrain. \nRAID VTT Registration\n2016 Registrations are closed! \nThe 170 € registration fee covers access to bivouac areas from Thursday evening to Sunday morning\, breakfast from Friday to Sunday\, dinner from Thursday to Saturday\, Sunday lunch\, baggage transport (25 kg max per cyclist)\, the MTB park and refreshments. \nAdditional Information\nThe Raid VTT for individuals is a non-timed event. The challenge is to finish the course and at the end of the three days a prize will be presented to the finishers. \nEach participant is required to bring: An emergency first aid kit\, wind breaker\, a fleece\, whistle\, survival blanket. \nThe following equipment is not provided: Tent\, sleeping bag\, sleeping mat\, bike lock. \nRAID VTT Itinerary\n \n[wooslider slide_page=”raid-vtt-itinerary” slider_type=”slides” theme=”business” thumbnails=”default” display_content=”false” imageslide=”true” order=”DESC” order_by=”date” size=”full”] \n  \n[su_box] \n© Crespeau\nRaid VTT Elite Results\n2015 TURCAT EMERIC / YOAHN SERT TEAM RAID VAUBAN\n2014 DIETSCH THOMAS / SAHM STEFAN TEAM BULLS\n2013 DEMANGEON GUILLAUME / MONTAGNY SYLVAIN LAFUMA ROSE\n2012 EPAILLY BRICE / BROSSARD LAURENT TANSBIKING\n2011 GILLY HERVE / MESTRE BRUNO SCOTT VELO 101\n2010 DEMANGEON GUILLAUME / PEYRONNET GUILLAUME VIBRAM LAFUMA\n2009 DEMANGEON GUILLAUME / MONTAGNY SYLVAIN VIBRAM LAFUMA\n2008 GILLMANN JEREMIE / BARTHELEMY MATHIEU MTBO TEAM GARMIN\n2007 DEMANGEON GUILLAUME / PEYRONNET GUILLAUME SPORT 2000 LAFUMA\n2006 DEMANGEON GUILLAUME / BALASKOVIC MARC SPORT 2000 LAFUMA\n2005 CHAUDUN BRUNO / FAURE JEROME TEAM ROC\n2004 HERTENS KRIS / CLEPPE WOUTER CORRATEL CHAMIZON SPORTFUL\n2003 BALASKOVIC MARC / BROTTET JULIEN SPORT 2000 LAFUMA \n  \n  \n[/su_box]
