Antibes & The Cap d’Antibes Travel Guide

Activities, Adventurous Things To Do & Local Tips

Find Things To Do

Situated directly across the Baie des Anges from Nice and about 12km from Cannes, Antibes offers the perfect blend of cultural interest, natural splendour, and outdoor adventure on the sun-soaked Côte d’Azur. Antibes combines the allure of an ancient walled city with sandy beaches, hidden coves and spectacular hiking.

ACTIVITIES | ACCOMMODATION | PRACTICAL INFO

Antibes’ impressive 16th-century ramparts stretch along the seafront near the old port and house a number of museums including a modern art, history and archaeological museum. If you’d rather be outside, take a stroll round the attractive Port Vauban harbour where luxury yachts and little fishing boats jostle for position. Or, wander up through the narrow, winding streets of the old town with its flowered terraces overlooking the sea.

For active travellers, the crown jewel of Antibes is undoubtedly the spectacular coastal trail at Cap d’Antibes. This 3.7km Sentier du Littoral winds its way around the peninsula, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Mediterranean’s azure waters. As you navigate the rugged limestone cliffs and hidden coves, you’ll discover why artists and writers have been drawn to this magical coastline for centuries. The trail varies from easy flat sections to more challenging rocky passages, making it suitable for hikers of most fitness levels while still providing an invigorating experience.

Whether you’re kayaking along the crystalline coastline, cycling through the fragrant pine forests of the cap, or simply swimming in the refreshing waters of secluded beaches like La Garoupe, Antibes is a great destination for an active holiday.

This easy 5 km coastal trail begins at Plage de la Garoupe and loops around the rugged Cap d’Antibes peninsula. Taking around two hours to complete, it’s an ideal hike for spring or autumn, when the air is fresh and the path is quieter. The route follows the Sentier du Littoral, a narrow path that clings to the edge of the peninsula, winding through windswept pines and past dramatic rock formations. Getting there from Nice Airport

Antibes is just 25 minutes by taxi or 45 minutes by express bus (Lignes d’Azur #620) from Nice Côte d’Azur Airport.

By Train

Regular TER trains connect Antibes to Nice, Cannes, and Marseille. Antibes train station is centrally located and a short walk from the old town and beaches.

Driving

Antibes is easily reached via the A8 autoroute (exit 44). Expect slowdowns in summer, especially in July and August.

Parking

Paid parking is available throughout town, including underground car parks near the port and old town. Street parking can be tricky in summer. Parking de la Garoupe is a free car park on the Cap d’Antibes, ideal if you’re planning to hike the coastal trail.

Electric Vehicles (EVs)

Several charging points are available, including at Q-Park Pré aux Pêcheurs and Q-Park La Poste. Reviews are mixed though, so our advice is to check availability before arrival. Some hotels and accommodation provide EV charging – we recommend you filter for this feature when booking.

Rent standard or electric bikes from shops near the train station and along the waterfront—ideal for exploring the Cap or cruising to Juan-les-Pins. KaKtus Cycles Antibes and Pop’Bike Antibes are two recommended bike rental shops.
