Escape the chairlifts and take to the skies to access the best ski and snowboard terrain in the Alps.
The best Heli-Skiing in the French, Swiss and Italian Alps
Heli-Skiing – the Ultimate Backcountry Skiing Experience!
Heli-skiing or heli-boarding is the ultimate experience for every serious skier or snowboarder. Access epic terrain and untouched powder that only a helicopter can, without a lift queue in sight! The helicopter whisks you up and out of the resort to remote and beautiful untracked powder where you can enjoy the euphoric feeling of floaty powder turns through miles of fresh snow over thousands of metres of vertical drop. The excitement begins as soon as you board the helicopter and lift up over the spectacular alpine scenery.
The descent of the Mont Blanc by the North face is a winding route that passes through seracs and steep slopes in an atmosphere of very high altitude. We will ski the North face and follow the petit and grand plateaux, passing by the Grands Mulets refuge. The last section which passes through seracs on the famous glacier des Bossons offers fun skiing right down into the Chamonix valley. The north facing itinerary generally guarantees a magical powder descent from top to bottom.
Italy has without doubt some of the best heli-skiing in the Alps. Big mountain terrain on the south-facing slopes of the mighty Mont Blanc. The wild and beautiful Aosta Valley, which runs along the French-Italian border, and Valgrisenche with its epic backcountry descents. There are over 20 authorised landing spots in the Italian Alps, giving you access to a huge variety of high altitude skiing. Ski everything from glaciers, steeps and couloirs, down to forests and open powder fields.
Heli-skiing in Switzerland is all about beautiful mountains and variety of terrain. From Verbier’s Le Châble heliport you can access mythical peaks like the Petit Combin, Rosablanches, Pigne d’Arolla or Trient. Each drop spot offers access to a number of different itineraries so you can ski the best snow on the day and choose a descent that’s adapted to your ability and the condition of the snowpack. In the Swiss Alps you can ski a vertical drop up to thigh-burning 2600 m.
Book a Heli-Skiing Trip
Our Heli-Skiing partners offer affordable day & multi-day packages designed for skiers and snowboarders looking to explore the best backcountry in the Alps.
Because these heli-skiing itineraries require stable snow conditions, you will either need to be flexible enough to make a last minute decision, or organised enough to plan a trip that takes into account bad weather days so you can make the most of a weather window.
After the helicopter drops you off, you sometimes need to climb higher under your own steam either using skins or boot-packing with crampons.
If you’re a good intermediate skier, you can go heli-skiing. However, if you want to take on an extreme heli-skiing itinerary involving high exposure and steep couloirs, your guide may request that you participate in a day’s lift-accessed steep skiing in order to get to know you and make sure your technique and fitness levels are up to it.
