The Les Orres bikepark is a hidden gem – it’s compact, well thought out and has something for everyone from beginners to pro riders. An active community of trail builders make sure the tracks are constantly evolving and the resort stays open at weekends until the end of September.
It’s testament to the quality of the tracks that despite the fact that it only has 14 trails, Les Orres is the destination of choice for many riders in Provence and hosts the annual Provence Downhill Championships. The green and blue trails are fun and flowy allowing riders new to the sport to progress at their own pace and try out some smooth jumps and berms if they so desire.
For more advanced riders there’s the fast, rolling Rocket trail, the jump-tastic GawAline or the more technical Vallon. Expert riders can pit their wits against the black Crêtes track and the awesome Cool Rider that requires 100% focus and precision riding. The North Shore’s nice too with its succession of challenging features through the forest.
When you’ve sampled all the graded tracks, you can graduate to the natural freeride trails which wind down from the Crêtes des Orres to the Lac de Serre Ponçon. Les Orres could be regarded as a model for resorts who want to open a bike park but don’t have loads of lifts. With just 2 lifts and 14 decent trails, this is an awesome little resort.
La Clusaz over and out! ⛷️
Hard to condense 4.5 days of skiing into one photo dump, but I tried my best 😅
I never feel happier than when I’m in the mountains. It’s a wonder I don’t live in them, but when you can be in Bristol in the morning but skiing by lunchtime, that’s enough for me 😍
Shoutout to heidi.holidays for such a great trip. A lovely team and definitely a company I’d recommend for ski trips! 🙌

Hi guys, can you recommend a local mtb guide with optional
uplift service that knows Les Orres bike park and surrounding hills well (enduro
but not excessive climbing)? Thanks!
Hi David, thanks for your message!
I would recommend you give Horizons Tout Terrain a try. They have a few guides and are set up to offer a bespoke service and their pricing is flexible. Here’s a link: https://www.ultimatefrance.com/go/horizons-tout-terrain-homepage
Hope that helps, have a great trip!
Matt
Thanks a million Matt, much appreciated!
You’re very welcome David, have fun!
Hey Matt, sorry to bother you again….are there any other tour guides you’d recommend? I’m afraid Horizons Tout Terrain haven’t responded to my messages! I’m going to be staying in Embrun the first week of October and I think the bike park will already be closed. Would love to have a guide to show me around the area/Les Orres. Merci!
Hi David, sorry to hear that – they’re pretty relaxed in the Hautes-Alpes!
Mountain bike guides are pretty thin on the ground in Les Orres. I just called HTT and they have seen your enquiry and will get back to you this afternoon.
Let me know if it works out this time.
Best wishes,
Matt
Wow, thanks a million, much appreciated !!! Will let you know how I get on 🙂
Hi Matt. FYI I found a very good tour guide in Embrun, that I would highly recommend. He knows the local trails very well. https://www.randoshautesalpes.com/
Hi David,
Thanks very much for the recommendation. Sounds like you had a great trip!
All the best,
Matt
